Incredibly RARE Frank Sinatra "To Love a Child" 45, "small hole" Nancy Reagan version.
OK Frank Sinatra collectors and President Ronald and/or Mrs. Nancy Reagan collectors here it is: The incredibly rare "small" hole version of the To Love a Child 45. Reprise PRO-S-1007. A/B sides are mono/stereo. What makes this so rare? This version is not to be confused with either the normal 45 (big) spindle hole version (which has a different stock number) or with any import versions. This is a US single that was made for "Nancy Reagan to Honor Her Interest in the Foster Grandparents Program". This 45 was only distributed, in VERY limited quantites at a single White House function during the Reagan years.

Adding even more value to this 45 is that it is the first record ever released that features Nikka Costa. Though this song was subsequently issued commercially, when this promotional 45 was issued, this was the only place to find it.
A number of years ago, I had the fortune to come across a small number of these 45s, factory fresh/never played, from a source at Warner/Reprise; these are apparently copies that were not used at the White House event. The copies I have are the only copies I have ever seen. I am sure there must be some copies that were handed out at the White House still in the collections of VIPs. But when do VIPs dump their record collections at the thrift store? (They are more likely to toss then in the trash, making the ones that survive even rarer!)

This 45 is so rare that it does not appear in most Sinatra discographies. Noted price guide historian Tim Neely valued it conservatively at $300 years before Sinatra's death. Since that time, I have not seen a single copy for sale (except for one copy I sold), leading me to believe that price may well be conservative.
You've never seen this one before. No really. Take another look. See that small hole? See that Promo release number? Nope, you've never seen this one. Super rare White House issue. Read on...
This copy has never been played, and probably plays NM-. However, it needs to be noted that there is a radial scuff on side 2 of the 45. As I mentioned, I got seveal of these, and most have the same radial scuff on them. I'm guessing it happened during the pressing. It looks like a surface scuff to me, but I have not play-graded the 45. See the photo at right.
